How to choose a restaurant with a view in Paris
Start with the view you want: the Eiffel Tower, the Seine, a garden, a canal. Then ask the question most visitors skip: is the view from every table, or only from a few? Each place page tells you which table to ask for, along with must-try dishes and prices.
The monuments, up close
Le Jules Verne sits on the second floor of the Eiffel Tower, 125 meters above the Champ-de-Mars, with floor-to-ceiling windows and a view stretching to Montmartre. The galette soufflée de Saint-Jacques and the chocolate soufflé are the dishes to remember. On the Left Bank, La Tour d'Argent looks through panoramic windows at the Seine, Notre-Dame and the Île Saint-Louis. For more starred tables with this kind of scenery, see our Michelin restaurants with a view.
The Seine at your table
At Guy Savoy, inside the Monnaie de Paris, the dining rooms look over the Seine and the Pont Neuf. Ask for a river-view table when you book, ideally for dinner when the city lights come on, and order the artichoke and black truffle soup. Ducasse sur Seine and Rosa Bonheur sur Seine are in the results too, if you'd rather be on the water than beside it.
Gardens, parks and a canal
Not every good view is a skyline. Le Pré Catelan, in a Napoleon III pavilion in the Bois de Boulogne, looks onto gardens and old trees; go at lunch for the natural light. In the 10th, Gros Bao serves char siu bao and mapo tofu on two floors above the Canal Saint-Martin: book and ask for the upstairs terrace, which fills fast at sunset. It's also one of the friendliest bills on this page. More in our 10th arrondissement guide.
Where to look and what it costs
Views and big budgets travel together: most of these places are high-end, and the 8th, 16th, 7th and 1st hold the most results. Start with the 7th arrondissement or the 8th, and don't forget the handful of addresses just outside Paris. For fresh air rather than glass, switch to our restaurants with a terrace. Then open the map, and book the sunset slot early.
