Wine Bars with a Terrace in Paris: 33 Places to Linger
A glass of wine outside is half the reason to come to Paris. Yet the terraces you pass by chance mostly pour a nameless house red, and the good natural wine bars are tiny, with three outdoor tables that locals claim first.
These 33 wine bars with a terrace in Paris were cross-checked across Le Fooding, Time Out and Michelin, and many are wine-driven bistros where dinner is as good as the bottle. How to choose a wine bar terrace in Paris
In Paris, the line between a wine bar and a bistro is thin: many of the best bottles are poured in places that also cook seriously. That's good news for you. Pick the neighborhood first, then check each place page for the terrace, the wine list and the dishes to order.
Belleville, the natural wine heartland
Paloma runs a generous terrace in a neighborhood where outdoor space is rare, and seasonal, Catalan-accented plates like yakitori-style lamb sweetbreads. Book, especially for dinner in the warmer months. Nearby, Le Baratin has been a Belleville institution since 1987: chef Raquel Carena cooks bold French dishes like crispy beef cheek next to a serious natural wine list, and a terrace opens in good weather, so mention it when you book. Le Cadoret, on the 19th side of Belleville, has only a few outdoor tables: come right at opening. More on our 20th arrondissement page.
Bistros with a few tables outside
In the 10th, Les Arlots is famous for its saucisse-purée and natural wines; ask for the small terrace if you want more space. In the 11th, Le Clown Bar puts tables outside when the weather allows, but step in at least once for its Art Nouveau ceramic clowns. In Saint-Germain, L'Avant Comptoir de la Terre spills onto a terrace under the market arcades, with natural wine and a stream of small plates. For more of that snacking style, see our small plates picks.
Where to look and what it costs
The 11th leads the list, followed by the 10th and the 18th, with the 9th close behind. Our wine bars in the 11th and the 10th arrondissement guide are the best starting points. Most places are mid-priced, with bistro plates to match the bottles. If a cocktail sounds better, switch to our bars with a terrace.
Getting a seat
Terrace tables at small wine bars are rarely bookable on their own. Arrive early, or reserve for dinner and ask for outside. Then open the map: the next good glass is usually a few streets away.
