Small Plates in Paris: 177 Places to Order Everything and Share
Sharing plates are the way Paris eats now, and that's become a trap of its own. Near the sights, a tapas board means industrial charcuterie and a few cubes of cheese for €25. In trendy rooms, it means three bites of something foamy for €18, times six.
These 177 places for small plates in Paris were cross-checked across Le Fooding, Time Out, Michelin and our other sources, so the plates are generous and the kitchens serious. Expect natural wine bars, seafood counters and chef bistros made for ordering the whole menu. More in the same spirit: our tapas, wine bars and Spanish food.

Where to share small plates in Paris
The rule is the same everywhere on this list: order two or three plates per person, then more if the table is still hungry. The tag is broad, so it also catches a few grand dining rooms whose tasting menus are built on small courses. Use the price filter to keep the evening casual.
Counters with no reservations
Clamato, the seafood bar of the Septime team on rue de Charonne, has a Bib Gourmand, no reservations and a crowd at 7pm sharp. Order the crab fritters, the oysters and the ceviche, then the clam tart. At Abri Soba, in the 9th, the soba come 16 ways, hot or cold, with izakaya plates of duck and leek, tempura prawns and a buckwheat crème brûlée. For more shells, see our oysters guide.
Chef bistros made for sharing
Mokonuts, near the Faubourg Saint-Antoine, is a 20-seat lunch-only canteen where Lebanese, Japanese and French cooking meet, and the yuzu-ginger cookies sell out; book by phone. At Passerini, near the Aligre market, the whole pigeon and the suckling lamb come in two services for the table. Shabour's marble counter in the 2nd serves lamb cigars and grilled octopus with harissa. ChoCho, on rue de Paradis, turns scallops with raw foie gras into plates for two.
Natural wine and a loud room
Many of these places double as wine bars. Café du Coin, Aux Deux Amis and Le Dauphin, all in the 11th, pour natural wine with croquettes, clams and bulots mayo. For more, open our Fooding wine bars and lively restaurants. Big groups can head to La Felicità at Station F, a huge Italian food hall with pizza, pasta and burrata.
Where to look, and the budget
The 11th is small-plates country, with about a fifth of this list; start with our 11th arrondissement page. The 9th, the 2nd and the 10th follow; for dinner in the 9th, see our restaurants in the 9th. Most places are mid-priced, but plates add up fast, so check the prices on each place page before you order a second round. Switch to the map to find the closest counter, and read the review summary to know which plates people order twice.
