41 Great Restaurants in the 9th Arrondissement, Opéra to Pigalle
The 9th gets two kinds of visitors: shoppers spilling out of Galeries Lafayette and the Opéra, and night owls heading up to Pigalle. Both tend to end up in the same place, a brasserie on the Grands Boulevards where the steak frites costs double and tastes of nothing.
Between those two poles lies one of the best-fed neighborhoods in Paris. These 41 restaurants in the 9th arrondissement, from an 1896 bouillon to Franco-Korean tasting menus, were cross-checked across Michelin, Le Fooding and Time Out. For bars and cafés too, see the whole 9th arrondissement. Short on time? Grab lunch from our quick bites in the 9th, or walk east to the restaurants in the 10th.

How to choose among the restaurants in the 9th arrondissement
Think of the 9th in two halves. The south, around the Opéra, the Grands Boulevards and Saint-Lazare, is where you'll want lunch between two shops or museums. The north, from Trinité up to rue des Martyrs and the edge of Pigalle, is where the evening happens. Most restaurants here sit in the middle of the price range, with a handful of cheap classics and a few tasting menus. Filter by budget above, then open the map to see which side of the neighborhood you're on.
Bib Gourmands and neo-bistros
Caillebotte is a bright neo-bistro with a Bib Gourmand, an open kitchen and counter seats worth asking for; try the pot-au-feu ravioli, and come at lunch for the best-value formula. Le Pantruche, in South Pigalle, comes from the same chef, Franck Baranger, and adds a 1940s room and a Grand Marnier soufflé. Near Saint-Lazare, three childhood friends run Mieux, where the menu follows each market delivery. Near Trinité, Gargouille serves Mediterranean sharing plates with arak cocktails, on weekdays only. Tasting menus without the palace bill
On rue Blanche, Perception blends French technique and Korean flavors, from mandu dumplings to glazed beef cheek; the lunch market menu is the easy entry, and it's closed on Sunday and Monday. Quelque Part, run by former Top Chef contestant Florian Barbarot, sends you on a seafood tasting menu in a basement dining room. Chenapan cooks eco-minded seasonal menus in a dark green room and only serves lunch on Friday and Saturday. Nectar keeps lunch simple and saves its tasting menus for the evening. Bleu Bao makes every dim sum and bao by hand in a blue-porcelain room straight out of In the Mood for Love; go at lunch. And Les Bariolés de Maud serves brunch every day, in two-hour slots.
