How to land a table at the best restaurants in the 11th arrondissement
Good news for your budget: most restaurants on this list are mid-priced, and lunch is where the 11th gets generous, with set menus at several big names for a fraction of dinner. The tricky part is timing. Some kitchens only cook on weekdays, others close on Sunday and Monday, so set the opening-hours filter before you fall in love with a menu. Then pick your strategy.
Set an alarm: tables you book weeks ahead
Septime opens its online bookings every morning at 10 am for the next three weeks, and dinner slots disappear fast. Lunch, with a five-course carte blanche, is easier to get; the restaurant only opens on weekdays. At Le Servan, sisters Katia and Tatiana Levha fold boudin noir into wontons and langoustine into ravioli, with daylight flooding the room at lunch. Qui plume la lune holds a Michelin star for menus improvised each service, served in a mineral room or a vegetal one. Le Châteaubriand, the pioneer of bistronomy, runs an eleven-course tasting menu, cheaper at lunch. See all our World's 50 Best picks.
Pick up the phone: bistro classics
Bistrot Paul Bert takes reservations by phone only, Tuesday to Saturday, and it's worth the call: a vintage room, filet de bœuf au poivre (around 14,000 served a year), sole meunière and crêpes Suzette. Café du Coin, a 20-seat corner bistro open seven days a week, does a weekday lunch menu and sourdough pizzetta. Le Chardenoux and Le 6 Paul Bert are also on the list. Hungry for the classics? See the best steak frites and sole meunière in Paris.
Just show up: counters with no booking
Clamato, the Septime team's seafood bar on the same street, doesn't take reservations: come at noon or 7 pm on weekdays for crab fritters and oysters, or wait with a glass at Septime's wine shop next door. Double Dragon works mostly on walk-ins too, so be there when it opens at 7:30 pm for the Korean fried chicken. Pierre Sang in Oberkampf seats you at a counter around the open kitchen for blind Franco-Korean menus, while East Mamma fills a glass-roofed hall on the Faubourg Saint-Antoine with pasta and pizza. Clamato and Double Dragon both hold a Bib Gourmand; for more, browse our Korean restaurants and Italian restaurants, or head next door to the restaurants in the 10th and the restaurants in Le Marais.
